Site-Building Resources
Basics
- Sadgrl.online I'm sure you already know this one but I highly recommend. Has a lot of tutorials on basic webmastery.
- w3schools Good website with interactive tutorials to teach you about web design. It has an index of all the functions you can do with html + css and walks you through them quite easily. I use it a lot when I don't know what I'm doing.
- Mozilla HTML/CSS Reference
Site Builders
If you learn basic html + css, you really broaden up your options ( I highly recommend this. Coding can be frustrating sometimes but it's really not that hard! ). But just because you're not an expert doesn't mean you're out of luck!No-Code Options: drag + drop codes that work out-of-the-box, but I HIGHLY recommend learning from one of the sites above how to do things like change images, fonts, and colors.
- Sadgrl's Layout Builder. These look pretty basic but they're workable.
- Other Theme Builders: here / here / here / here
- *Zonelets. Boilerplate blog framework. I used this for the post section of this site! Also comes with a helpful tutorial.
- Ready-to-Use Layouts: here / here / here /
*please respect the wishes of the designers + give credit. a few specifically say not to use their themes off of tumblr. technically nothing's stopping you but it's good Net Etiquette TM Side note: If you use tumblr, I recommend going through these blogs, bc not only do they have themes, but guides, site assets, and cool widgets. Like these ones!
- Tumblr Goodies
- Lazy Coder's Guide. generates any site element.
- Wii Menu Page. make a page that looks like the Wii Menu!
- Pokedex/about page.
Fonts
I no longer recommend Google Fonts. Even though it's easy to use, they take your site data and god knows what else.- How to Add Custom Fonts.
- Dafont. Font download website.
- Fontmeme. Another font website, except it has a lot of fonts from games & movies.
- Coolors Fonts.
Colors
- *color-hex Personal fave for finding colors since it gives you a lot of helpful information and shades and highlights. You can also make palettes.
- *randoma11y bicolor color scheme generator with an emphasis on readability
- adobe color wheel Lets you make a palette using color theory.
- image palette extractor Lets you upload an image to get its colors.
- html color namesthere are 140 named rgb color values, here's a reference sheet
- coolors

Site Widgets
- SCM Music Player Versatile, easy to add music player. I like this one especially because it takes Youtube links and is just drag + drop code. If you want to restyle it (most of the skins are kinda ugly) then you can create a new .css file for it to reference to.
